Description
Compilation of the new hip lock! The hips tended to swirl around too much, so a lock was necessary.
From left to right (and from top to bottom):
Regular straight position, opened to show the lock, inside look of the bottom slot with the hip lock in sliding position, same position seen from the front.
You can just pop it in to move the leg forwards and backward, and if you want it to move sideways you unlock it by pulling the joint out of the socket and sliding the lock into the slot.
When you're done posing you pull the leg out again and pop the lock back into place.
The grey freckles and lines are corrections of little dents and bubbles.
~Background info: Seraphim the firefox and twin sister Neva the snowfox are going to be two castings of the same double-jointed BJD, standing about 55 cm tall. They will have interchangeable heads (one fox, one human) and removable ears and tail. This is the first doll of which I'm carefully documenting the making process. I am currently moulding, test-casting and refining. When I've got a full set of master moulds both of the girls will be up for pre-order~

Her thigh and hip has a great profile! And the locks look pretty snazzy. Smart resolution to your problem, and visually simpler than I thought it would be. (Although I know it's the result of some hard work!)
I'm doing the rotating double hip joint on Garyn, and I'm trying to make it look seamless, make it lock, and have it pull out so she can tuck up her legs. But until I can cast those Sculpey legs, I can do nothing with them! (I'm all about some Apoxie Sculpt from the start with the next one!)
